PINE VALLEY
- An overnight trip into Emigrant Wilderness with Pepper.
This was, in theory, a special getaway trip with Pepper where we would spend multiple days exploring the wilderness, floating in lakes under the hot summer sun and enjoying cool nights under the splendor of stars. In practice, it was a one nighter because I was coming down with a flu like illness that hit full force at our first camp. I really hope I can redo this one in the future.

Day 1 Highlights
- Easy start at the Pine Valley trailhead, right by Crabtree. Really nice way to start a hike - and less climbing than Crabtree.
- I hadn't gotten good sleep the prior two nights. Stayed at the Mi Wuk Village Inn the night before which was affordable.
- Took all day to go about seven miles to camp. The trail along the lower loop was very dry, but water was flowing at the creek!
- So many pack trains - clearly getting a ride with the Aspen Meadows pack station is the way to go.

Day 2 Highlights
- Slept awful again and woke up feeling very ill. Figured it best to hike back out - which was mostly downhill and I took my time.
- Weather was absolutely perfect and no bugs at all. I was really happy with the plan and would love to try this again.
- Great campsite right at the start of the trail to Rosasco! Big horse camp by the creek.
